The semester final will include questions from Chapters 1-9. You will be allowed to use: the class packet, a calculator, pencil, and 1 handwritten 3”x 5” note card (both sides) which will be turned in before you leave the room. I will NOT allow photocopies of note cards or anything that is typed.
To help you review for the semester final, these are the general concepts you should know and understand.
Topics/ concepts:
Scientific Method
Properties of Matter
Measurement and Calculations
Structure of Atoms
Arrangement of Electrons in Atoms
Bonding
Formula Writing
Nomenclature
Types and Balancing of Equations
Moles
Stoichiometry
There are specific objectives in each chapter, which you should review and make sure you can explain and understand. I would also suggest reading the chapter review for each chapter and studying the vocabulary. Keep in mind, not all vocabulary words will be in bold so you may need to re-read the chapter.
The on line textbook has some interactive review activities for each chapter that may be helpful to you. I would suggest taking some time to check these out before the day of your final.
DO NOT wait until the last minute to come see me with questions or for help. I can do very little for you the day of the exam. Please spend time getting prepared. You are capable of doing well on the exam and I have faith in you. Good luck!! 2014-2015 Review Answer Key (scroll down past the practice problems for the answer key)
